U.S. Embassies and Consulates Resume Accepting I-130 Immigrant Visa Petitions Under Certain Conditions

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) announced on 3/21/07 that U.S. Embassies and Consulates will now resume accepting petitions for immediate relative immigrant classification from American citizens who are resident in their consular districts, under certain conditions.  The DOS announcement appears below.

The USCIS has advised that I-130s which are pending at U.S. Embassies and Consulates should not be re-filed.  The USCIS notice was issued in the wake of the enforcement of the Adam Walsh Protection act which prevents U.S. Embassies and Consulates from processing I-130s.  The relevant portion of the USCIS notice appears below:

If you find an employer you are interested in, you can then contact them to inquire as to whether they have any current job openings in your field. Foreign Medical Graduates ("FMGs") should be aware that there are "FMG Friendly" employers, and "FMG Unfriendly" employers.
